We got a very warm welcome from John the owner. He also gave us a lot of information about the area and many of the local sights to see. He showed us to our room, which turned out to be a spacious, clean and well equipped 1 bedroom unit. We were pleasantly surprised. He and his staff were friendly and accommodating at all times. The room was very comfortable and there were a large number of TV channels, which was good, as there was a day of heavy rain, which precluded any outdoor activities. Restaurants, shopping, the wharf and most activities were a 3 to 5 minute walk away. The beach was just across the road from the motel. Paihia is a lovely town and the motel was beyond our expectations.

Originally, we were booked at an upmarket apartment that was 4x the price, decided to go for this place instead due to central location and value for money. We compared this place to our original booking and were not disappointed with our decision. The owner/manager of this property cannot do enough to ensure a great stay, working hard all day to maintain high standard, and advise on best options for tours etc. Great facilities like complimentary laundry, and 5min walk to central area & ferry wharf. Many Thanks for a great holiday! Thanks for the perfect weather too !!

Why stay anywhere else? This is the PERFECT location and it has convenient parking. The host is magnificent. He was always available to chat and give recommendations. I so enjoyed staying here. It wasn't just a good place to stay it was part of my holiday. I really can't recommend this motel enough. If you are after a clean, conveniently located motel this is the place to be. There are other motels in the Bay of Islands that I saw as a I drove around but I don't know why you wouldn't want to be located directly in front of the beach with all the convenience that brings. This was a great find.

When we arrived we had a plan for the following day, which we laid out for John, he offered valuable information to help us make some decisions and offered suggestions of other places we should visit as well. He got the room all set up for us, turning the heat on and showing us how to operate everything. The location was absolutely perfect - right on the water, close enough to walk to everything we would need. The size of our room was perfect, and the whole place has a carefree, fresh air, relaxing vibe about it. I would come here again and again.

Ala Moana Motel was in the perfect location. Close to all tourist activities, directly across from the beach and within walking distance to the town centre and all the good restaurants. We hade the sea view room and the view was amazing. The room has floor to ceiling windows right across the front of the room so you looked directly at the bay. That is a sea view. The property manager allowed us to leave our car at the motel for a couple of hours after check out which was so helpful. It allowed us to do a helicopter ride without worrying about parking.
